Missing Birds' Bureau

 Found: A Baby pigeon
Age: Few days?

One evening, as we were walking out of the parking lot of our housing society, we noticed something alive in the corner: it was a baby pigeon huddled up in a corner.

Too small to fly, the poor being had been perhaps attacked by crows or dogs or cats... because it was badly injured in the head.

My brother in law picked the bird up and brought it upstairs. We cleaned the wounds with a cotton; and put some antiseptic cream on them.

We dug out a shoe-box from the store, punctured few holes in the cardboard, placed a bowl of water and some grains in the corner, and put the bird in its make shift cage.

In the morning, I was surprised by the confidence with which he was walking around in the shoe-box. But by the evening, he chose to go back to the outer world...

good thing you did...reminds me of long time bckk childhood...a group of kids(including me!!) were playing when we suddenly spotted an injured squirrel in a dry rain water man hole which was fortunately covered only with grill, we took out the grill picked out the squirrel, out it in a shoe box in one of my friends house's verandah, which was located on 3rd floor..and it stayed for almost a month and and the children used to come and pay it a visit ....it got well and about used to run around the verandah ...but did not leave...then we took the shoe box9its mini home now) down to our playground and set it down...it still did not go...it stayed with us for a total of two months and finally during one of our sessions in playground it went back to the outer world..and i ca claim to be one fo the few persons who has cuddled a squirrel!!!
