Connectivity is a good thing, and in today’s context, very
essential too. However, for me, it has become almost an obsession.
I am someone who believes in being connected round the
clock, even at night. Inspite of many a scary theory regarding mobile phones
emitting harmful waves, I do not switch my device off at night, and ensure that
it is within a hand’s distance. “Someone who calls me at night would not do so
to exchange pleasantries”, I would say.. and hence I should be available if I
am required.
I hate being in areas where you get feeble network for the
fear of not being reachable when someone needs to get hold of me. Maybe this
anxiety is justifiable, because of relatives and friends in different parts of
the world, students and people who may need to reach out to me for various
purposes.
The level of charge of my mobile phone battery is something
I am very concerned about. I step out of my home with my charger everytime I
would be gone for more than few hours, and if my battery level drops to 20% ,
which is when the indicator turns red, I see red too. I would plug in my phone
without taking any further risk.
Good internet connectivity is also something that my service
provider needs to provide, so that my availability remains unhindered across
modern communication tools.
Do you agree to my mindset?

I agree, but at the same time I like to disconnect at times and enjoy some peace!

I definitely prefer to disconnect at the end of the work day. If people REALLY need me, they can call or text (and only the most important people in my life even get to have my phone number). I put my phone on "Do Not Disturb" mode after 9 PM, though, so unless they call repeatedly I will not hear the ringing. To me, there is a reasonable limit to how connected I am willing to be. I am not going to jump to answer a phone or text like Pavlov's dog; I am a human being with free will! So I will continue to assert my boundaries over constant connectivity.
Connect or disconnect—I'm glad we have the choice of when, where, and to whom.
I would actually prefer not to have my phone in the bedroom, but I do want to be reachable in a crisis so keep it with me just in case. I have a love-hate relationship with staying connected. Weekends In Maine
